Album Name: One of the boys

Artist: Katy Perry

Genre: Pop

Record Label: Capitol

The major label debut album of Katy Perry cannot really be considered a smashing one. It has flaws  I tell you. Some tracks really were not that good.

However, be assure of the fact that the album has lots of good tracks. All the released singles so far like “Hot N Cold”, “I Kissed A Girl”, “Ur So Gay”, and the newly-released “Waking Up In Vegas” will provide the listener that joy which one receives in hearing a new record.

Some of the tracks just disappointed this writer notably “Lost” and “I’m Still Breathing”. Most of the songs can make you dance or cry. “Hot N Cold” really is a good dance track. “Thinking of You” is one of the best slow songs of the album. However, the writer recommends “Ur So Gay” as the best track of the album.

Even though it had its disappointments, the album still has some goodness which the listener should not disregard. Take note that the album is one of the good pop albums out there. Not the best but still good.

The album just did not mix the right amount of slow and upbeat songs. “Thinking of You” as the lone slow song that had drama in it would have been enough.

Overall, a decent album but not one of the best. A 3.5 out of 5.
